Yarn....tons and tons of yarn!

So I decided to go through and organize my yarn today and discover what (and how much) I actually have.  All I can say is *wow*--I knew I had a bunch of yarn, but I guess I just didn't realize how much.  I'm still trying to "stash" it all on Ravelry!

Check out my flickr for the pics!  I started to get lazy and just grouped a lot of colors of the same kind of yarn together for easy photographing!

Next, after listing it all on Ravelry, is using it!!!! :) :) :)

New YARN and new FO!!

Hooray this weekend I finished the blanket I took with me to Denver :).  I had these plans to do multiple colors in it (body one color, border another), but decided against that at the last minute.  I am VERY happy with the results!  I'll post pictures later, as I am too lazy to go get my camera and I'm working on work stuff (yep, 10:21p Monday night I'm working...).

I also went to Michaels because I *had* to spend at least $50 to secure 1500 points with my Michaels rewards card!  It was a special weekend :).  Well, I got a bunch of new and fun yarn!! (Definitely need to go through my stash and use it up ASAP!).

Here's what I got: a skein of "Pomp-a-doodle" that silly looking pom-pom yarn because I just couldn't resist the silliness of it all, 3 skeins of "Bamboo Ewe" the new Stitch 'n Bitch yarn in a very pretty sea-glass color I imagine I'll make a nice knit scarf or something, 8 skeins of "Country" by Caron in 4 colors gonna make a throw for my living room or a baby blanket with it, and 4 skeins of Lion Brand "Amazing" in wildflowers which make 6 skeins of this yarn (I saw a really pretty granny square blanket made from this and I wanted to make my own, dye lots don't match but I'm not gonna care about that).

In other news I got an internship for the summer!  I hope it goes well :).  I will definitely try and crochet/knit my little heart out around the internship!  I'm so excited, this is such a good opportunity for me!

Oh, and Chris and I will be going to DC woohoo!!!!  I need to think of a train project!!!!!!!!!!

AND finally, my goal for this week (if I can squeeze it in) is to go though all of my yarn, take photos of the different kinds and calculate how much I have.  This way I will know what's in my stash and what I have to use (hehee, so I can eventually not feel as guilty buying new yarn!).

Ok, back to work!

Graduation Blanket :)

YAY! Yesterday I gave Christopher part of his graduation present!  A lovely (in my opinion ;)) crocheted blanket!  I've been desperately wanting to blog about it, but knew he would see the post.  I made it using the "Soft Waves" pattern by Jan Eaton and I used Lion Brand Vanna's Choice yarn in like a million different colors.  It is large enough to fit on the top of a queen size bed.  In the picture, it's on my bed which is full size, but you get the idea.  It is made with two strands of yarn held together--none of the stripes are repeated.  I actually haven't calculated how much yarn I used, but trust me--it's a lot!  That blanket is heavy, but nice and soft and fun!

:)  I'm so proud of him for completing his masters degree!

Happy Mother's Day!

Today was Mother's Day :).  I took my mom to the Montclair State University Harry Partch Ensemble's Open Studio today.  It was a lot of fun!  After, Christopher, Mommy, and I went to visit the Presby Iris Gardens in Montclair.  Even though it was quite chilly and windy, we had a lovely time.  I of course took lots and lots of photos!  I definitely plan on going back sometime this week.  The director said that she expects all of the Iris's to be in full bloom in about 10 days.  I really can't wait!

I think this was my favorite iris of all!

Home sweet home!

Ahhh, I'm home!!! It felt REALLY good to sleep in my own bed last night!  I had a really nice time in Denver.  The meetings were very informative and educational.  I hope to have at least a poster to present at next years meeting in NOLA! :)

In fibery news, I did end up going on a solo adventure to Fancy Tiger Crafts.  The store was absolutely awesome!  There was tons of beautiful fabric and tons of beautiful yarn.  They even sold vintage buttons and all sorts of sewing additions like rick-rack and other fun things.  I was able to take a quick photo of some of their yarn!

I spent more time in that store than I should have and was *slightly* late to the next session of meetings I wanted to attend--at least I didn't miss my friend's presentation :-D.

Soooo, I bet you're wondering what I purchased (cause you KNOW I bought something!) Well, I got some cool yarn made from banana leaves.  It's called "Fabjous Fibers Banana Silk Yarn" and I can't wait to make something--I think I'm going to crochet a pillow cover with it :).  I also got some fabric squares and 3 small pieces of fabric to try my hand at a patchwork pillow cover.  I think I'm obsessed with pillows...lol.  Oh yeah, and I purchased a "I <3 Hand Made" pin and a handy tape measure!  These are probably the best souvenirs I ever got on a trip!

Here's a little better close up of the yarn:
