I'm totally inspired by my pear. The color combination is amazing and I think it would make a really nice combo for a baby blanket. The lighter green with dark green accents accompanied by white. Beautiful!

Luna Blanket

I crocheted this blanket last semester as a commuting project. I though my mom would like it as a gift for one of her friends babies--sadly she didn't. Soooo it sat in my room longing for a new owner.
My mom needs a gift for a friend's new baby and suggested I add a ruffle to the blanket to make it more girly (which would make my mom like it more and therefore she would give it to her friend). So today, well technically yesterday, I did just that. AND I crocheted a yellow moon for it because year little girl that it is for is named Luna ;). The moon looks a little like pacman in this picture lol. The blanket pattern is the little v-stitch blankie from Lion Brand and the moon is from Crochet Today magazine.

I created a bag from plastic bags that I had saved. I fused the plastic into different shaped pieces then sewed them together. It has a rough around the edges look that I really like. Now to make another one! :)

First "non-scarf" knitting project!

Sooo, I don't really love to knit--probably because I kind of suck at it hahaa. BUT I've decided that I have to force myself to do better and pick up those needles! I like to do it, I just go so slow that I guess I get frustrated! HOWEVER, I've finally completed my first "non-scarf" knitting project!

I've made the pocket purse from the Klutz Knitting book :). This was my project on my commute yesterday! Now, it isn't as good as my crochet pieces, but I think it's decent. I kind of have a steady gauge...hahaha.

Anyway, I love it! And I've been carrying it around with me because I'm so proud that it's not a scarf! :)

I even learned how to knit 2 together! :-D

Alpine Frost Test swatch---AKA bookmark!

I did it!!!!! I was able to do the pattern and it actually, for the most part, looks like the magazine one! YAY!!!!!! Ok, so now I have a super cool bookmark!

This was done with an F hook...I think I might still use that hook for the final project. It came out 8 inches wide, when the pattern says it will be 9 inches wide with the proper gauge (that's with a D hook!)....so maybe I'll try and fix it, or maybe I don't care so much ha!

Alpine Frost Scarf

So I've decide to crochet the Alpine Frost Scarf from Interweave Crochet (Winter 2008) for my mom.

I just think the scarf is so pretty and lacy and just sooooo nice! I even bough the yarn that the pattern calls for! Anyway, I started to make this last night and just couldn't get past the first two rows of the pattern! My chains look weird and big and loopy (I realize things change after I block it). My stitches look short and fat, and they are hard to see. The pattern calls for a size D hook (which I tried first), but I crochet tightly so I also tried and E and F and they still looked weird to me. I'm having trouble judging my gauge because I can't really get past the first few rows of the pattern. This is my first time crocheting with lace weight yarn--I've used crochet thread just fine, but this is giving me problems! I'm not sure what kind of tension to having on the yarn. For a bit I thought I was holding it too tightly because the pattern was acting stretchy, so then I frogged it and tried with very light tension and it looked messy.

UGH!!! I'm frustrated but won't give up! I just need some help. OH, and my friends knit, so I'm not sure where to turn to for in person assistance.

Long needed catch up

While it has been a long time that I've update, it hasn't been a long time since I've crocheted!

I unfortunately passed out this summer and ended up with a concussion, a sore chin (from putting a hole in my desk with it), a badly sprained knee, and lots of free time spent sitting on my couch recovering. At least I made a bunch of different projects!

Here is a "baby Babette" blanket that I made for my friends Alyson and Jim who are expecting their first baby 11/1/09. I also made them this baby sweater and crocheted puppy!

I also made blankets for twins--they are the same pattern with alternating colors in the border!

And I made a granny square baby blanket, that just needs its ends tucked in!

Thankfully I'm feeling better!!! :)

Queen Anne's Lace Scarf

I finally finished another crochet project! I need to get this stuff done. I bought a lot of new yarn that I want to play with, but I have all of these UFOs hanging around my apartment, and I just can't justify starting something new without finishing these projects! So I'm trying to do a little here and there to finish some of these UFOs so I can use my new yarn!!!






I finished this scarf just the other day. I was working on it on and off. In totally I probably worked on it for about 4 nights--it's pretty easy. But with school and such it was hard to find enough time to sit there and make it :-)

I'm definitely happy with the results and can't wait to wear it out this week! Really easy pattern, I'd definitely recommend it!

Afghan for me---to match my new bedding!

So, this is the first official blanket that I am making for myself. I'm moving on Friday into my own apartment. I got some really fun bedding with lots of colors and such and I wanted to make myself a big blanket to go with it. I'm using Caron Simply Soft in white and 10 other colors. I wanted to make it 80" x 100" or basically large enough to cover a full sized bed. I'm making ten strips of ten colors each. The pattern is going to (hopefully) create a diagonal rainbow effect on the blanket. I'm using half double crochet as the stitch for this blanket (nothing fancy). It's creating a nice tight blanket that is not too heavy---it's also very soft but that's because of the yarn I chose I love SS! I'm doing 22 rows of hdc. Now, I planned this all out when I started creating this blanket, but now it seems to be much longer than I had anticipated. I even had measured out how long 22 hdc (with my tension) was so that I would get the correct size--they measured 10". Now they seem much, much longer. I just remeasured and one color block is measuring 11", which means I'll be adding an extra 10 inches to the length of my blanket. This is going to be one monster blanket. I can't changed it, unless I want to go back and un do everything I've done---which I don't. I'm almost done with the second color strip--which means only 8 more to go! My goal is to get this whole thing finished befor school starts on September 2nd.

I hope I can do it!

I think I'm going to attach the strips as I finish them so that I don't have to seams them all at the same time---I really hate doing that it gets so boring and I usually end up taking such a long time doing it. After it's all seamed, I'm going to add a white border to it of some sort. I'm not certain what I want it to look like yet, but I know it's going to be white.

I'm obsessed with Ravelry lately. I absolute love the entire site. I find that every time I look at it (which is multiple times in one day) I find something new! Whether it's looking at a yarn I have in my stash (which btw I need to photograph and post) and then finding projects for that yarn or WIPs/FO that others are making/have made with that yarn or adding books to my library and seeing what projects others have made---I always find a new inspiration and something else to look at! AND I LOVE THAT!

I also like crochetville and that a lot of those users are also found on Ravelry. :-)

Just sharing my newest (and probably strongest) obsession!
